Nvidia has officially confirmed that the new Nintendo Switch 2 will support its Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology and real-time ray tracing. These are supported by a custom Nvidia processor with dedicated RT and Tensor Cores, a massive graphical performance boost over the original Switch.
Compatibility with DLSS allows the Switch 2 to enhance low-res images in real time, unhampered by performance, to deliver even higher-quality images. Real-time ray tracing takes it a notch further with more realistic lighting, reflection, and shading. Nvidia specifies that all the above put together means tenfold graphical performance from the standard Switch.
Switch 2 in handheld mode features variable refresh rates with Nvidia G-Sync technology, which makes the game smoother and more responsive. The console’s GPU capabilities also make it possible for it to feature face tracking and background removal for video calls, broadening its applications beyond gaming.
